Popularly known for his adventurous action and smart comedy films; Akshay kumar is a famous actor in Indian film industry. Two decades and more than 50 films later he has become a common face in Indian entertainment industry.
Born as Rajiv Bhatia in Amritsar, Punjab, on September 9, 1967, to an army officer father; his talent as a dancer and performer was soon recognized. He grew up in Chandni Chowk area in Delhi before he moved to Mumbai where he attended Don Boscho School and Guru Nanak Khalsa college (King's Circle). He earned a black belt in Taekwando and moved to Bangkok to learn martial arts and Muay Thai. In Bangkok he worked as a chef and waiter. While teaching martial arts he got assignments for modeling. Some modeling assignments later he got a role in the movie Deedar, produced by Pramod Chakravarthy.
Akshay Kumar debuted in bollywood in the 1991 with movie Saugandh. Later he did Khiladi in the year 1994. His film Mohra was considered highly successful film of the year. Since then Akshay Kumar has never looked back despite some rough patches in his acting career. His performance in the film Yeh Dillagi was well appreciated and he got nominations for Best Actor award at the Filmfare and Star Screen ceremonies. This film actor is also well known for the films that have khiladi in the title. His films like Sabse Bada Khiladi and Khiladiyon Ka Khiladi were highly successful. Later he acted in the films like Dil To Pagal Hai, Sangharsh and Jaanwar.
The new century brought her mix results and added some new dimensions in his acting skills. Hera Pheri was adjudged a commercial success. His film Dhadkan was moderately success. Her role in Mujhse Shaadi Karogi as a comedian was highly appreciated. Later his film Singh is King was highly successful. His recent release Desi Boyz was moderately successful.
In addition to films he has also worked in some television serials like Fear Factor: Khatron Ke Khiladi and MasterChef India.
He is married to actress Twinkle Khanna and has a son named Aarav.
