Rajkot, Jan 11 (ANI): People in Rajkot city of Gujarat state witnessed a royal wedding procession, headed by a silver chariot followed by antique carriages, convoy of vintage cars and several horses and elephants accompanied by royal band, after nearly seven decades.
The procession which took place in Rajkot on Tuesday for the wedding of Mrugeshkumariba, daughter of Mandhatasinh Jadeja from the erstwhile princely state of Rajkot, who would be marrying the former prince of Khimsar in Rajasthan, Dhananjay Singh on January 17.
Prince of Rajkot, Mandhanta Sinh Jadeja, said the procession is a part of the royal family tradition and the silver chariot was being taken out for the first time after 1945.
"Our silver chariot, which is out today, was utilised in my father marriage in the year 1954 and after that, this is the first time that the silver chariot is showing its appearance again," said Jadeja.
Thousands gathered enroute the procession and the members of other erstwhile princely states were seen dressed up in traditional attire for the procession.
Residents were thrilled at the sight of procession as they had never witnessed such a procession with vintage cars and royal dresses magnifying the glamour.
"We are witnessing a royal wedding in Rajkot today; we have never seen such a marriage before. The cars, we are seeing, the traditional clothes that the family members are wearing is really nice. Theses are very rare cars like BMW and the king himself is walking with the procession," said Rupal Soni, a resident. (ANI)
