New Delhi, Jan 10 (ANI): Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina would be on a two-day maiden visit to Tripura beginning on Wednesday during which she will be conferred the Doctor of Literature honoris causa at the 9th Convocation of Tripura University by Vice President Mohammad Hamid Ansari.
Union Human Resource Development (HRD) Minister Kapil Sibal would be present on the occasion
Sheikh Hasina's visit to Tripura would further strengthen people-to-people links and enhance trade and economic relations between India and Bangladesh.
India and Bangladesh share enduring fraternal, linguistic and cultural ties. Cooperation between India and Bangladesh have been greatly enhanced with Prime Minister of Bangladesh visiting India in January, 2010 followed by a return visit by Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh in September 2011.
Dr. Singh, during his visit to Bangladesh in September 2011, was accompanied by the Chief Ministers of four states bordering Bangladesh (Assam, Meghalaya, Tripura and Mizoram), which underscored the potential for furthering the engagement and ties between the states of North-East India and Bangladesh.
