Islamabad, Jan 3(ANI): Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Nawaz Sharif has called on the Pakistan government to declare fresh elections soon to maintain a democratic set-up in the country.
Nawaz also denied reports about his impending meeting with Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari to counter the growing popularity of the Imran Khan- led Pakistan Tehrik-e Insaaf party.
He said the sole purpose of his visit to Karachi was to conduct the party's provincial elections, The Nation reports.
Nawaz said his party is in favour of forming a new Hazara province and added that the PML-N supports the creation of new provinces on an administrative rather than a linguistic basis.
He said PML-N leaders are split on the decision of tendering their resignations to advance the party's cause.
He said had the Pakistan People's Party agreed to the PML-N's Charter for Democracy, people's problems could have be solved rather than fuelling speculations of resignations by PML-N members. (ANI)
