Srinagar, Dec 29 (ANI): Scores of tourists especially newly weds thronged the picturesque locales of Kashmir in the sub-zero temperatures.
A tourist, Akanksha Kumari said the fact Kashmir being considered as the paradise on earth, she and her husband decided to visit and enjoy its scenic beauty.
"It was a sudden programme, a surprise by my husband actually. He planned to go to some place where we can relax and that's why we planned to visit Kashmir. Kashmir is considered as a paradise on the earth. So, that is how we planned to come over," said Kumari.
They also plan to visit Gulmarg, Sonmarg and Pahalgam in the Valley.
Another tourist, Ganesh Sehgal said he planned to come to Srinagar because his parents had also come here for their honeymoon.
"I got married three days back and my parents had come here for their honeymoon too. Kashmir is one of the most beautiful places of the world and I want to see the snowfall too. That is why, we planned to come to Srinagar," said Sehgal.
2011, has turned out to be golden year for tourism receiving maximum influx of tourists after several years of unstable situation prevailing in the state.
"We have just started with an influx of honeymoon couples. Most of them are from Gujarat. The reason being the situation here is considerably improving. We used to have lots of tourists before and this used to be the main season for honeymooner to visit the Valley," said Tariq Ahmad Patloo, the Publicity Secretary of Homeowner's Association.
Jammu and Kashmir Government in the past couple of years has increased its efforts to boost the tourism industry. They have initiated quite a few projects in various tourist hubs like Verinag, Pahalgam, Daksum and Aharbal to attract tourists in large number. (ANI)
