New Delhi, Dec 27 (ANI): With Anna Hazare sitting on a three-day fast at the MMRDA Grounds in Mumbai against the government's 'weak' Lokpal Bill, senior Supreme Court lawyer Prashant Bhushan on Tuesday fully backed the veteran social activist's protest, and said that every citizen of this country has the right to express himself, to protest and to convey his plight to the Parliament.
"It is perfectly fine for people to show black flags to Hazare as it is their democratic right to express themselves. Every citizen of this country has the right to express themselves, to protest and to convey their plight to the Parliament," said Bhushan.
"It is a wrong perception being spread by the lawmakers and various political parties that people cannot agitate while the bill is being debated in the Parliament," he added.
Meanwhile, senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader S S Ahluwalia said that his party wants a strong Lokpal Bill, which would help in getting rid of corruption from the country.
"We want an improved Ombudsman Bill. This bill tabled by the government is very weak and requires many amendments. We are in favour of a strong Ombudsman Bill that would eradicate corruption from the country and for that purpose we have moved for amendments in the Parliament," he said.
Anna Hazare is presently sitting on a three-day token fast at the MMRDA grounds in Bandra Kurla Complex of suburban Mumbai along with his close aides Arvind Kejriwal, Kiran Bedi and Manish Sisodia to protest against the government's 'weak' Lokpal Bill.
Team Anna has rejected the government's version of the Lokpal Bill in Parliament, and termed it to be weak. They have been pressurising the government to accept their demands including bringing the CBI under the ambit of the anti-corruption ombudsman. (ANI)
