New Delhi, Dec 25 (ANI): Congress General Secretary Digvijay Singh on Sunday alleged that veteran social activist Anna Hazare was associated with Hindu leader Nanaji Deshmukh.
"Anna Hazare worked with Nanaji Deshmukh in Gonda. I haven't worked with him. The RSS has published a book on Anna Hazare. The RSS has not published a book on Digvijay Singh and instead has used foul language against me," he told the media here.
A Hindi daily published a photograph of Hazare with Deshmukh and claimed that the anti-corruption crusader had worked under the latter's leadership in 1983.
Digvijay Singh further said that the Parliament had right to amend the Lokpal Bill presented by the government.
"Parliament has got right to amend the provisions of the Act. Let the BJP move an amendment and let it be debated," said Singh.
"It is right of Parliament to enact a law and people should accept this fact because anyone outside Parliament doesn't have right to impose their will on the Indian Parliament," he added, while criticising Anna Hazare for mounting pressure on the government.
Team Anna and the government have locked horns over the Lokpal Bill issue, with the former stating that the bill's latest version is 'weak', while the latter says that it has gone out of its way to incorporate the views of all sections of society.
Anna Hazare, who is spearheading the movement for a strong Lokpal, will begin his three-day fast in Mumbai from December 27 to pressurise the government to accept their demands including bringing the CBI under the ambit of the anti-corruption ombudsman. (ANI)
