Palampur (Himachal Pradesh), Dec 25 (ANI): One labourer died and over eight others got injured after an under-construction bridge collapsed near Palampur town in Himachal Pradesh on Saturday.
The injured labourers were admitted to the nearby hospital for treatment.
Palampur Sub Divisional Magistrate, Ashish Singhmar, said the two major casualties have been shifted to another hospital for advanced treatment.
"In total we have nine casualties, out of one death; two have major injuries and the rest five with minor injuries," said Singhmar.
Singhmar further said a team of experts from Shimla has been devised check the quality of construction being carried out and inspect the material being used for construction.
"This is an unfortunate incident. We have called a Quality Control Team from Shimla to collect the samples from the site. The police was deployed so that the material is not changed only then will find out that who is responsible for the accident and whose mistake it was, whether due to the bad quality of the material or the construction of the foundation was weak," he added.
This is the second time this bridge has collapsed. Last year, it collided in November, claiming a life of an official and leaving ten others injured. (ANI)
