Durban, Dec 25(ANI): South African right arm fast bowler Vernonhilander has injured his knee at a practice session on Saturdayorning, but is likely be fit to play in the second Test against Srianka, which starts from Monday.
"Vernon suffered a mild strain to the medial collateral ligament ofis left knee while he was bowling today. Right now, we're stillonfident he will be fine for the Test," Sport 24 quoted team manager Mohammed Moosajee, as saying.
Philander has been treated with ice, compression and physiotherapy and will have his injured knee strapped.
He is expected to bowl at the nets on Sunday to assess his level ofomfort," Moosajee, who is also the team doctor, said.
"The challenge would have been if it was more severe but, at thisoment in time, we're still assessing it as mild," he said.
Moosajee said Lonwabo Tsotsobe, who is included in the squad, is not yet fully fit.
"He is somewhere between 85-90 percent fit after suffering a sidetrain. Lopsy is much better, but we're building him up slowly," heaid.
Rookie Marchant de Lange would most likely make his debut if Philander fails to get fit before the Test. (ANI)
