New Delhi, Dec 25 (ANI): M M Ansari, one of the interlocutors on Jammu and Kashmir, has said that that if this mission would have been given more time then the results would have been great.
"If we would have been given more time to work then possibly we would have tried to meet the Hurriyat leaders which we were trying for long, but were not able to meet. In regard to the governance issue, which was related to human rights violation, we could have possibly made improvement in it," Ansari told the media here on Saturday.
"But I would like to say one thing to you that the annual report that we had submitted and few things that we had stated in that report and if those things are implemented properly then the results would be very good," asserted Ansari.
Ansari, an economist, informed that as the group's appointment was open ended so if any member at any point stepped down then the whole group was doomed to dissolve.
"I totally agree with you that if this mission would have been given more time then the results would have been great. As this was a group appointment by the government and it was an open ended group, I had no idea that this mission would all of a sudden end within a year but unfortunately due to personal reasons of one of our members was not able to show willingness to continue with this mission, so our group ended at that point," said Ansari.
"We have submitted a complete document in which all possible solutions are discussed. It is from political will to improving governance and possible steps to continue the peace talks; we have tried to explain all these points in that document," he added.
The Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh, had appointed the team, also comprising academician Radha Kumar and journalist Dileep Padgaonkar, last year - after the unrest in Kashmir Valley in which over 100 people were killed.
They were appointed by the Centre to find out practical, feasible and workable solution on Jammu and Kashmir that would accommodate each aspiration to the largest possible extent. (ANI)
