Jaipur, Dec 24 (ANI): The Rajasthan government has sought help from the Army, Border Security Force (BSF) and the Railways as the doctors strike in the state-run hospitals entered its fourth day on Saturday.
The doctors in the government hospitals have struck work, demanding parity in pay and allowances with their counterparts in the central service.
Rajasthan's Health Minister Rajkumar Sharma has said that Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has promised that the health care facilities would not suffer due to the ongoing stir and that he would live up to his assurance.
"Considering the problems faced by the public and understanding their pains, today the Chief Minister has called doctors from all the hospitals of Army, BSF and ESI (Employees State Insurance) in the state. The officials of Army, BSF and Railway have given us assurance that they would give their best help to us," said Rajkumar Sharma.
The medical crisis in the state worsened as 5,000 doctors submitted their resignations.
Sharma also mentioned that the state government has proposed to reimburse those hospitals and nursing homes, which are extending their support to the government hospitals vis-?-vis treating the patients.
Around 9000 doctors have taken part in the strike paralysing services in the government hospital. The worst sufferers are the patients particularly those needing immediate care.
Recently, Congress government in Rajasthan went on the back foot after the Mahipal Maderna-Bhanwari Devi case surfaced and the Gopalgarh violence episode rocked Gehlot's government between September-November this year. (ANI)
