Jaipur, Dec 23 (ANI): Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has appealed to doctors in the state health services to end their strike and resume medical services in public interest.
Nine thousand doctors in government hospitals in Rajasthan have gone on an indefinite strike since Wednesday asking for better pay.
"I have said that there are other ways of protesting in a Gandhian way, you can wear black strips, you can do extra work for one, two or for three hours so that people in government will get to know that you people are unhappy and you have some grievances. And if there will be appropriate complaints then those complaints will be dealt with in a proper manner," Gehlot told the media here.
Gehlot further alleged that someone was misleading the doctors and this was subject to enquiry.
"In every way we have made good decisions and even after carrying out such protests it is beyond my understanding and who is misleading these people is a subject for investigation. I feel that these people in the interest of other people and the society should end the strike," said Gehlot.
Earlier, speaking to mediapersons a protesting doctor, Vikram Batra said that they have mobilised the other doctors in the state and now they have started courting arrest and they would not end the strike until their demands are met.
"Today, all the resident doctors are with us and everybody has courted arrest on their own. In a way, courting arrest movement has begun, it has begun in Jaipur, Udaipur also and we have appealed to everybody in Jodhpur, Kota and in Bikaner to court arrest in as many as numbers possible. We are not afraid of arrests and batons," said Batra. (ANI)
