New Delhi, Dec 20 (ANI): Congress Party on Tuesday urged veteran social activist Anna Hazare, who is fighting for a strong Lokpal Bill, to discontinue his association with radical Hindu outfits like Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) despite availing support from these organs.
"The chief of RSS had said in New Delhi that he is whole heartedly supporting Anna Hazare and his movement against graft. He had said that he would try to give birth to the likes of Hazare in every village," said Congress spokesperson Rashid Alvi.
"I think Hazare should give a clarification on this issue and this is a suggestion that he should refrain from being associated with a communal organisation like RSS whose member was involved in the murder of Mahatma Gandhi, regarded as the Father of Nation," he added.
Further talking about the ongoing controversy surrounding the move to ban Bhagwad Gita by a Siberian court, Alvi said the Indian Government was seriously looking in to the matter and extending its full support to the people, who are fighting against the possible ban.
"Gita is not just a religious text but is the essence and soul of India and the people are misguiding the Parliament of Russia. Indian government extends its full support to the people who are fighting against the proposed ban on the Hindu scripture," he added. (ANI)
