The members of Indian Davis Cup team have accepted to have written a letter to the All India Tennis Federation (AITA) that they would not play Davis Cup for India if Leander Paes continue to hold captainship of Davis Cup.
The top singles player Rohan Bopanna and Prakash Amritraj revolted against the domineering influence of Leander Paes, their decision was supported by Mahesh Bhupati and Karan Rastogi too. Their demand also included a non playing captain to be available for them through out the year.
The General Secretary of AITA, Anil Khanna confirmed of receiving a letter signed by four players.
“I have received the letter from the players citing that they don't want to play under Leander Paes,” he said.
Referring to the upcoming executive meeting, Khanna said, “The decision will be taken in the best interest of the nation.”
