Shringverpur (Allahabad, UP), Dec.5 (ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party leader Uma Bharti on Monday targetted both Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati and Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi on the eve of her Jal Sanrakhsan Yatra.
Accusing the Mayawati government of targetting BJP activists and women, Bharati termed it unjustified.
"They misbehaved with our members and women. It is unjustified. We were going to Baba Saheb Ambedkar's statue with the letter. We were stopped midway," claimed Bharati.
She also revealed that BJP leader Kirit Somaiya had alleged that Mayawati and her family had forged money.
On Rahul Gandhi, she said that he was yet to acquire the maturity of a political leader to win over the confidence of the masses.harati will start her Jal Sanrakhsan Yatra from Shringverpur in Allahabad on Tuesday.
On the first day of her campaign by the river, Uma will perform Ganga Arti and address a public meeting there. On steamer, she will move to Fafamau to address another public meeting on the same day.
The Jal Sanrakhsan Yatra would be second campaign by Bharati after "BJP Lao, Pradesh Bachao".
During the campaign, she will hold meetings in villages dominated by communities like Nishads, Kevat and Kashyap which work as boatmen and fishermen.
These castes are among the Other Backward Classes. Bharati is expected to highlight how these communities have been ignored by the Mayawati and Mulayam Singh governments, and what the BJP proposes to do for them if elected to rule in the state. (ANI)
