Gaya, Nov 30 (ANI): Anticipating revenge attacks by Maoists in the wake of the killing of their top leader Kishenji, the Government Railway Police (GRP) in Gaya has intensified patrolling along the railway tracks.
Maoist rebels believe that Kishenji was murdered in a fake encounter on November 24. However, the security personnel said that they had asked him to surrender during their battle but he refused and fired on them.
Hence, during the gun-battle, Kishenji and some of his accomplices were killed.allojula Koteswara Rao alias Kishenji was a politburo member of the Communist Party of India (Maoist) and leader of the armed rebellion as well.
He was third in the hierarchy of Maoist leaders in the country.
Reportedly, Kishenji and his wife Suchitra Mahato were hiding in the Kushboni Jungle when the area was cordoned off and a gun battle followed.
Railway police force said these are routine checks and the objective is to ensure that the passengers do not face any problems.
"This is a routine checking going on. We keep doing such checking of trains and railway stations to avoid any untoward incident by anti-social elements. Mostly Rajdhani Express is checked, so that passengers do not face any problems during the journey," said Ashok Singh, Inspector, Railway Police, Gaya.
Armed security personnel were seen deployed in large numbers and increased patrolling and intensive checking was being undertaken as luggage of the passengers and trains were being frisked. (ANI)
