New Delhi, Nov. 11 (ANI): Defence Minister A. K. Antony on Friday said that before the end of the year India would be able to finalise a border mechanism with China.
He was speaking on the sidelines of the foundation day function of the Institute of Defence Studies and Analysis (IDSA) here.
Commenting on the modernisation of the armed forces, Antony said he was confronted with a 'historical baggage', but efforts are being made to expedite the process.
"We have a definite procedure. Technical evaluation is given 101 percent attention. Then comes pricing," he said.
The Defence Minister earlier presided over the 47th Foundation Day of the IDSA and presented the K. Subrahmanyam Award instituted in honour of late K. Subrahmanyam.
He also paid handsome tributes to Shri N.S. Sisodia, who headed the IDSA for the last six years, and said the institute has emerged as a premier think tank in the sphere of defence and security studies.
There was a panel discussion on Draft IDSA National Security Strategy 2020, which was chaired by former Foreign Secretary Shyam Saran.
Established in New Delhi on November 11, 1965, at the initiative of the then Defence Minister Yeshwantrao Chavan, IDSA has over the years, played a crucial role in shaping India's foreign and security policies, including policies on nuclear weapons, military expenditure and conventional and non-conventional threats to India.
