Islamabad, Nov 11 (ANI): Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Zaka Ashraf has said the Anti-Corruption and Security Unit (ACSU) of the International Cricket Council (ICC) might soon open a new investigation into the spot-fixing scandal.
He had confirmed last Monday that the PCB had written a letter to the ICC voicing its support for all anti-corruption measures of the sport's world governing body and also making it clear that in any future ICC investigation, the PCB should be made involved, the Daily Times reports.
Media reports have talked about the ICC considering opening a new investigation into the spot-fixing scandal following the submission of new evidence and transcripts at the criminal trial of Salman Butt, Mohammad Asif and Mohammad Aamir in the London Crown Court.
Butt was handed a 30-month prison sentence for spot-fixing in London. Fast bowler Mohammad Asif was also sent to prison for one year and teenage fast bowler Mohammad Amir for six months for deliberately bowling no-balls during a test against England last year.
"The spot-fixing scandal has badly damaged the image of Pakistan cricket, and we want to let everyone know that we support all anti-corruption measures of the ICC and want to be part of the fight against corruption," Ashraf said. (ANI)
