Srinagar, Nov 11(ANI): Hurriyat Conference Chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq today hailed Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh for taking up the Kashmir issue with his Pakistan counterpart Yousuf Raza Gilani.
Dr. Singh had met Gilani on the sidelines of 17th SAARC summit in Maldives on Thursday.
Both the countries have decided that they would resume dialogues and ensure that they are able to amicably resolve all the contentious issues.
Speaking to mediapersons in Srinagar, Farooq expressed his happiness by saying that the entire state wants to see the end of differences between the two nations.
"We are happy that the government of both the countries had thorough discussion on the issue of Jammu and Kashmir. People of Jammu and Kashmir and the All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) have always wanted to see friendship and closeness between India and Pakistan. We want to see differences depreciating between the two nations," he said.
Farooq also said that the time has come when both countries should come together and move forward and amicably resolve all contentious issues.
"Time has come when we should minimize the trust deficit between two countries or to completely eradicate the trust deficit. The most effective way to overcome the problem is that we should move forward from conflict management to conflict resolution. We should concentrate on solving the issues," he said. (ANI)
