Sultanpur (UP), Nov 11 (ANI): Spiritual leader Sri Sri Ravi Shankar has said his work was not politically motivated, but rather was creating awareness in society against corruption.
Addressing mediapersons here, he said that spiritual leaders have been contributing in social building since ages and nobody could question their noble work towards the upliftment of society.
" What impression do these politicians have about several Sikh gurus including Guru Gobind Singh ji, Guru Nanak Dev among others who worked for the upliftment of society? These Sikh gurus always stood up whenever there were atrocities against the society," he added.
Further criticising Law Minister Salman Khurshid, Sri Sri Ravi Shankar said: "From where he (Salman Khurshid) got an impression that I was working to gain political mileage? Today I have come here after visiting 14 states and he (Khurshid) says that I should have started my tour from Karnataka."
"I had already kicked off my tour the same state. I have been to almost all the districts and villages of Karnataka. This is not new for me. Prior to this I had visited West Bengal also. There is some miscommunication. He has not properly understood the motto of my tour. So, he might have got disillusioned or scared of my tour," he added.
After ending his trip in Uttar Pradesh on Thursday, the spiritual leader is also slated to visit IIT Kanpur where he is scheduled to address his regular religious gathering.
His four-day tour in the state comes at a time when different political parties are campaigning in Uttar Pradesh ahead of the 2012 assembly elections. (ANI)
