Bomb-like object creates panic in Gujarat town

Palanpur (Gujarat), Oct 3 (IANS) Panic gripped a town in Gujarat's Sabarkantha district Friday evening when people found an object covered with yellow plastic and thought it to be a bomb. However, it turned out to be a hoax, the police said.

Shopkeepers in Himmatnagar town closed their establishments after a street vendor spotted an object covered in yellow plastic at about 4 p.m.

Water was sprinkled on the object.

'After it was taken away and checked it turned to be a hoax,' said R.B. Brahmbhatt, district superintendent of police.

People are yet to reconcile with the blast in Modasa town of the district on Sep 29 in which one person was killed.
