Chandauli (UP), Nov 9 (ANI): Spiritual leader Sri Sri Ravi Shankar has said that a high spirit is necessary among people to eliminate graft from the nation, besides having an effective Lokpal Bill.
"An effective Lokpal Bill is needed but I don't agree that it would come only with the help of law. People should have spirit to eliminate corruption from the country and if this resolution comes within the people of our country then the work would get done," Ravi Shankar told the media here.
Commenting on why he cancelled his Amethi trip, Sri Sri Ravi Shankar said he feared that Congress party supporters might harass his followers.
"I was invited by the Sri Hari Ashram to visit Amethi during my yatra, but I had to change the plan because my people there were facing undue pressure from political parties, and they requested me not to come," he added
While responding to a question about the recent comment made by Congress general secretary Digvijay Singh, Ravishankar said: "In this country, everybody is open to make comments whatever they want."
Digvijay Singh had recently created controversy by posting on a social networking site, "Plan A - Baba Ramdev Crashed, Plan B- Anna? Plan C - Sri Sri Ravi Shankar soon to start his campaign"
Singh also accused the BJP of conspiring to use Anna Hazare, Baba Ramdev and Sri Sri Ravi Shankar in a phased manner as tools in an anti-corruption campaign in different parts of the country. (ANI)
