Google, the giant search engine seems to have landed in trouble after a lawsuit was filed against it in Atlanta by Jonathan Cobb a former contract worker with Google alleging the Google to have stolen his idea regarding Google Earth Sky.
Jonathan has claimed that he was the person who originally came up with the idea for Google Sky version in an e-mail in the year 2006 while discussing with the group including the Google managers involved in Google earth and other programmed associated with it. He was a contract worker hired by Google through WorkforceLogic USA.
The petitioner stated, “Defendant Google took the concepts and ideas originally presented by Plaintiff and, without any notice or credit being extended to Plaintiff, used them as its own,”
“Such actions represent a violation of Defendant Google's publicised corporate motto 'Do No Evil’,” he added. Also the complainant had asked for $25 million as damage.
The Google Earth Sky provides user to gaze into the mystery of galaxies and vast sky, this application act as a virtual telescope and bring the whole view of sky at much ease to user’s computer.
There has been no response till now on the matter by Google.
Earlier too in November 2007 Google had been sued for using the technology in its core web search system by Boston based Northeastern University and Jarg Claim. Reportedly both the complainant possess exclusive licensee of search technology patented in 1997.
