India’s Jyoti Randhawa maintained the position of India’s highest-ranked golfer at No. 82 while compatriot Jeev Milkha Singh’s placed just one spot behind him after moving 10 places up to No. 83. Jeev’s second-place finish in the recent Indonesia Open gave him the boost up in the latest world golf rankings released on Monday.
This particular month has really brought a double delight for Randhawa, who also surpassed the $2 million landmark. He received $30,960 for his fine performance in Jakarta taking his career earnings to $2,009,509.
Randhawa is only the second Asian player after Thailand’s Thongchai Jaidee, to cross the $2 million barrier. Jaidee still leads the way with $2,605,237.
Jeev, who had to just bogey the final hole to win his second European Tour title, lost it by a whisker after handing the title to Felipe Aguilar of Chile in Jakarta on last Sunday.
Randhawa, ranked 85th last week, moved three places up after his tied seventh-place finish in Indonesia Open. Incidentally he is also the second-highest ranked Asian, but way behind to No. 8 ranked K.J. Choi of South Korea.
Inaugural Indian Masters winner S.S.P. Chowrasia, who didn’t participate in the Jakarta event, is placed at No. 3 Indian at 164, followed by Gaurav Ghei (214) and Shiv Kapur (267). Arjun Atwal is at 375 while Rahil Gangjee is at 392.
