Islamabad, Oct 31 (ANI): The Pakistan People's Party (PPP) and the Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) have slammed cricketer turned politician Imran Khan over his 'contradictory rally' in Lahore, saying that he 'lacked direction' and 'clarity'.
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf Chairman Imran Khan had asked leaders of the ruling party to declare their assets within few months or face a civil disobedience movement, which might lead to their ouster.
He had also "cursed" the government in a rally, insisting that its alliance with the US is the main reason why his country is facing a home-grown Taliban insurgency.
"Our leaders owned this war on terror for the sake of dollars. Let me curse you. You sold out the blood of innocent people," Khan told the crowd assembled around the country's most important national monument, the Minar-e-Pakistan in Lahore.
The PPP's Central Information Secretary Qamar Zaman Kaira said that his speech was 'full of contradictions'.
Although he termed the PTI's rally, which had gathered an estimated 100,000 people, as an impressive show, Kaira pointed out that the way Khan spoke was very vague, and had no clarity as to what he really meant to do, the Daily Times reports.
On the threat of launching civil disobedience in country, Kaira said that it makes no sense in a country where the democratic institutions are functioning independently with an independent judiciary discharging its functions.
Referring to Khan's threat that rulers should declare their assets, Kaira said everyone contesting the elections have to declare its assets, and it was weird that Khan didn't know about that such a provision in the law already exists.
Kaira vehemently denied speculations that the PPP is frightened of Imran Khan's growing popularity. (ANI)
