Gorakhpur, Oct 28 (ANI): Residents celebrated Diwali for the second day with a message of world peace on Thursday.
The event was promoted by Sanskar Bharti, an organisation seeking to preserve Indian traditions.
Around 150,000 clay lamps, carrying the message of world peace, were lit
"Between 125,000 and 150,000 lamps have been lit here. They symbolise peace and harmony among all people," said Gyaneshwar Das, a local.
The rows of little lamps made a beautiful sight, and their tiny shimmering flames reflected in the still waters of a reservoir.
Diwali was celebrated with fervour and gaiety all over India.
It marks the return of Lord Rama to Ayodhya after he defeated Ravana, the king of Lanka. (ANI)
