London, Oct 20 (ANI): A new website has been launched which will ask parents to rate their child's school based on several parameters, including issues like homework, children's happiness, teaching standards, behaviour and levels of homework.
The website, launched by Ofsted, will cover schools across England and will allow the parents to maintain their anonymity.
The Parent View online questionnaire asks parents to give opinions on 12 different statements, ranging from "my child is happy at this school" to "my child receives appropriate homework for their age" and "this school deals effectively with bullying".
It also asks if parents would recommend their child's school to another parent.
Those completing the questionnaire are asked to say how strongly they agree or disagree with the statements, and visitors will be able to look at the responses for each question for individual schools.
But some teaching unions have raised concerns that allowing parents to rate schools anonymously leaves the site open to abuse.
"Parents want to be able to pass on more clearly a picture of a school to each other," the Daily Express quoted Ofsted chair Baroness Sally Morgan as saying.
"We know it's already out there, so in a sense you can stand outside a school gate and pick something up, or there's things in the local paper, but it's to try and make it somewhat more systematic for people to be able to give regular feedback," he added. (ANI)
