New Delhi, Oct 18 (ANI): Communist Party of India-Marxist CPI (M) leader Biman Bose has accused West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee of inaction against Maoists.
After attending a party meeting here, Bose recalled Banerjee's pre-poll statement that there were no rebels in Jungle Mahal area and compared the current situation wherein in the chief minister is urging Maoists to surrender and negotiate.
"She and her party slanderously campaigned against the Left Front government, during that time they had a pact, now somehow that pact is disrupted. So she has started saying that there are Maoists. ...she has come to know that were Maoists in earlier locations for years together," said Bose.ose further urged Banerjee to first clarify her statements and the call for negotiations with the Maoists.
"Now she has as the chief minister is trying to sought out the Maoist problem and started giving time for negotiation, surrender of arms and that negotiations should be started. So now she is getting Maoists there . Within a few months there are Maoists where there were no Maoists earlier "said Bose.
Banerjee on Saturday gave a seven days' ultimatum for Maoists to lay down arms for a peaceful round of talks.
Addressing a rally at Jhargram, Banerjee slammed the Maoists, saying violence and negotiations could not go hand-in-hand and also assured Maoists of an attractive resettlement and welfare package. (ANI)
