Lahore, Oct 12(ANI): The Lahore High Court has issued notices to top Pakistani politicians on a writ petition seeking a verified list of their worldwide assets.
LHC Chief Justice Ijaz Ahmad Chaudhry issued notices to Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari, in his capacity as co-Chairperson of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani and Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) chief Nawaz Sharif on the writ petition.
The other respondents included Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan, PPP Chairperson Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi of the Pakistan Muslim League-Q (PML-Q), Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif and Punjab Chief Secretary Nasir Khosa.
The LHC chief directed all respondents to file replies, along with their affidavits about the details of their assets.
"Notices shall be issued to the respondents in the writ petition who shall file their replies, supported by their affidavits, with an advance copy to the learned counsel for petitioner," The News quoted Justice Chaudhry, as saying in his written order.
Barrister Javed Iqbal Jaffrey had filed his petition in 1993, and requested that the respondents be directed to provide verified lists of their worldwide assets.
Now, he has filed an amended writ petition and alleged that the politicians looted and plundered public money with both hands and transferred billions of rupees to foreign countries' banks.
The petitioner also requested the court to direct the Federal Board of Revenue and all anti-corruption departments to employ "Lie Detection Machines" on all the respondents, alleging that they always tell lies to the nation, even under an oath on Quran.
He also sought court directions for the respondents to bring back their foreign assets and spend them for the welfare of Pakistan.
The next hearing on the writ petition will be held in the first week of December. (ANI)
