Hisar, Oct 9 (ANI): Hitting out at the Centre yet again over the delay in passing of an effective Lokpal Bill, RTI crusader Arvind Kejriwal, a key figure in veteran social activist Anna Hazare's crusade against corruption, on Sunday said they are asking the people not to vote for the ruling Congress Party, as it is not governing properly and indulging in corruption.
It may be recalled that Hazare had proclaimed that he and his supporters, and the 'India Against Corruption' (IAC) group, would campaign against the Congress Party as the ruling party failed to pay heed to their demand to introduce at the earliest an effective Lokpal Bill.
Kejriwal affirmed that the movement led by Hazare was not supportive of any other party.
"This is a part of democracy, if the ruling party is not working as it should be then a voice should be raised against them. People should be asked not to vote for them, vote for anyone you want, but not them. We are not supporting any party. We are just asking people to not vote for them, as they are not governing properly and are indulging in corruption," said Kejriwal.
"The opposition parties will not benefit from our campaign, but by the government's own follies. They did no work, they are corrupt, they are not carrying out strong steps against corruption and they did not get the Lokpal Bill," he added.
Kejriwal also reiterated that the civil society activists had no personal grudges against the Congress Party and were simply against the rampant corruption.
"We have no personal enmity with the Congress, neither are we against it. We just want a Lokpal Bill. The day a strong and an effective Lokpal bill is passed, our movement will be withdrawn and we will not campaign against them," he added.
Kejriwal also slammed the claims made by Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat that the volunteers of his outfit actively took part in the movement against corruption without craving for position and credit.
"The people, who had gathered at the Ramlila Maidan, included people from the Left, the Congress Party and on the whole all Indians were there. It was a revolution of Indians. The leadership of this movement has nothing to do with any member or wing of the RSS," said Kejriwal.
"No one can point out that anyone from our movement is associated with them. RSS is neither a part of the leadership nor is it running the movement. The RSS's incessant claims that it was a part of the movement do not suit it. This is a movement of Indians and they should not divide it into RSS and non-RSS," he added.
Team Anna had on Saturday launched a blistering attack on the Congress Party ahead of the Lok Sabha by poll in Hisar, asking voters to inflict a 'historic' defeat on the party for not bringing the Jan Lokpal Bill.
Hazare has issued an appeal to the electorate through a CD asking them to defeat the Congress in the by poll.
Kejriwal and Sisodia will camp in Hisar for the next three days, while former senior police officer and civil society activist Kiran Bedi is expected to visit the place on Monday.
The by-election to the Hisar seat, to be held on October 13, was necessitated after former Haryana Chief Minister and sitting MP Bhajan Lal's death in June. (ANI)
