New Delhi, Oct.6 (ANI): Vice-President Mohammad Hamid Ansari, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Congress president Sonia Gandhi on Thursday visited the Ramlila Maidan to see the culmination of the annual Dussehra celebrations there.
The VIPS were escorted to a flower bedecked stage and garlanded with flowers by the organisers of the event soon after their arrival at the ground. mong the other important guests present were the Lt. Governor of Delhi Tejinder Khanna, the wife of Vice-President Ansari, Salma Ansari and Union Telecommunication Minister and local MP Kapil Sibal.
This was Sonia Gandhi's second appearance in public after undergoing surgery in the United States for an undisclosed ailment.
The atmosphere in the ground was one of traditional gaiety, fun and frolic.
The effigies were set on fire at around 6.45 in the evening with commoners shouting Shri Ramchandra ki Jai and vedic chants in the background.
The dignitaries then left the venue. (ANI)
