Itanagar, Sep 27 (ANI): The Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) has alleged that a minister was kidnapped by a group of miscreants near Chief Minister Jarbom Gamlin's official bungalow on Monday evening at gun point.
A minister was allegedly kidnapped at gunpoint from near CM's bungalow by a group of miscreants on late evening of September 26 and a Congress legislator was also kidnapped from MLA Cottage on September 25.
APCC spokesman Hayeng Mangfi, in an e-mailed release, claimed that "a Congress minister was kidnapped by a group of miscreants near CM's official bungalow here on 26th evening at about 5.30 pm at gun point in an unregistered Scorpio, taken inside CM's bungalow where he was manhandled."
"A Congress legislator was forcefully carried away on 25th night by some unidentified group from his official MLA Cottage here for some political purpose," the release said, adding that Niti Vihar which houses CM and cabinet ministers' bungalows is a highly security zone and such incidents there "is a mockery at security system of the state and reflects utter failure of the state leadership in the helm of affairs".
However, when contacted, the CMO denied having information of such incident either this evening or yesterday. The Capital Complex police also denied receiving any complaint either form the APCC or the minister and the legislator.
Government Spokesperson Setong Sena while outrightly rejecting the allegation, said that the allegation leveled against the Government was nothing but tailored, concocted and made with a malicious intention to gain cheap popularity in the name of APCC.
"It is very unfortunate to know that in some of the local dailies, there had been a mention about the kidnapping of a minister from near CM's Bungalow by a group of miscreants which is totally false, concocted and tailored," Sena said.
Arunachal Pradesh is plunged into a political crisis with Chief Minister Gamlin's fate hanging in the balance as many ruling Congress legislators seek a change in leadership due to his dictatorial attitude.
A large section of Congress MLAs are in Delhi led by state congress APCC chief and PWD minister Nabam Tuki, demanding the removal of Gamlin.
The 60-member state assembly presently has 42 Congress members, 5 from the NCP, 5 from Trinamool, 4 from PPA, 3 from BJP, with one being an independent legislator. (ANI)
