Ludhiana, Sep 27 (ANI): Authorities in Ludhiana struggle to curb the alarmingly high cases of dengue fever.
According to a doctor, about 670 cases of dengue have been reported in the hospital where he is presently working.
"We have been receiving a lot of patients from mid-July onwards and the patients are suffering from both dengue and viral illness. The total number of confirmed dengue patients is 670 in last 2.5 months," said Dr. Ashwini Chaudhary.
He also said that out of total 670 cases, more than half of them were from Ludhiana, 147 were from Bhatinda and 100 were from Jalandhar.
Around 4,400 cases of other mosquito-borne diseases have been reported in the Punjab province over the past two months, forcing the state government to close down schools for 10 days.
Recognised as 'breakbone fever' across the globe, dengue is an infectious tropical disease transmitted by mosquitoes. (ANI)
