Kuala Lumpur, Sept 27(ANI): Three Malay Indian women, who had been forced to work as slaves in a Perak farm for the past two years, have been rescued in a crimebuster raid following a tip-off from the public.he victims claimed that they were lured by a family to work in the farm and beaten, held captive and forced to work without receiving wages, Kosmo! reports.
The three women, aged between 20 and 30, had arrived in Malaysia as tourists in 2009.
Their chores were said to include shepherding cattle and goat flocks, maintaining a pond and collecting jasmine flowers, the Star reports.
Bukit Aman D7 (anti-vice, gaming and secret society) Deputy Director Senior Assistant Commander Abdul Jalil Hassan said four people were being investigated in connection with the case under Section 13 of the Anti-Trafficking In Persons Act.
A Bukit Aman crime investigation unit source told the Star they staked out the place for two weeks before moving in to rescue the women.
"We found that they were not compensated for their work and that the Labour Act had been contravened. We are investigating allegations that they were assaulted by their employers," the source added. (ANI)
