Karachi, Sep 19(ANI): The Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has reportedly claimed responsibility for the suicide car bomb attack in Karachi early on Monday morning, which killed eight people and injured several others.
Senior Superintendent of Police Crime Investigation Department (CID) Chaudhry Mohammad Aslam was targeted when suicide bombers rammed an explosive-laden vehicle outside his residence in the city's Defence Housing Authority near Darakshan police station.
According to the News, it is being reported that a Toyota Corolla and 300 kilograms of explosives were used in the attack.
Investigations into the attack are underway and police and other law enforcement agencies are gathering evidence from the scene.
The explosion destroyed a large part of Aslam's house, but the senior officer and his family members were not harmed.
It also left a 10-feet deep crater outside Aslam's house and blew out the windows of cars and other houses in the residential area.
Many private schools and educational institutions are also known to be situated in the locality.
The CID is tasked with cracking down on the Taliban and other militants in the country. (ANI)
