Islamabad, Sept 15(ANI): The top brass of NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) in Afghanistan has pledged to work closely with Pakistan in checking and combating Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) militants enjoying sanctuaries in some parts of the war-ravaged country.
The ISAF has assured Pakistan of a deeper cooperation with regard to TTP's safe havens in Afghanistan and its efforts to launch cross-border incursions into Pakistan in a bid to destabilise the country, The Nation reported, attributing to 'informed sources'.
Some militant groups, believed to be associated with defunct TTP, have been mounting cross-border attacks into Pakistani border districts of Dir and Chitral.
The sources said these militant groups had been enjoying sanctuaries in Kunar and Nuristan provinces of Afghanistan.
The Pakistan Army has also moved some of its troops to Dir and Chitral districts to tackle the emerging challenge of cross-border militant attacks.
Meanwhile, Pakistan Army chief General Kayani, who left for Spain on Wednesday to participate in the NATO Military Committee Conference, would exchange views with other senior NATO officials on regional security.
The conference, scheduled to begin in Sevilla from September 16, will focus on future operational and transformational challenges. (ANI)
