Majampur (West Bengal), Sep.13 (ANI): Two factions of the Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) left villagers of Majampur, West Bengal, in a state of shock and fear on Monday after clashing violently with each other.
Miscreants attacked the house of former state minorities minister Abdul Sattar at Majampur village in the Malda district of the state.
As per reports, a rival faction within the CPI-M led by Asadullah Biswas attacked the house of Sattar with local made bombs and guns.
Sattar and his family fled to safety along with a few of their neighbours before the miscreants could attack them, after which the attackers went around the village creating commotion among the locals.
The activities of the miscreants forced most of the villagers to flee from their homes.
Admitting to a feeling of fear prevailing in the area, a resident, Karim Islam, confirmed that gun shots were fired and a bomb was also exploded during the clash.
Islam said that around 20 families have left the village.
Over ten persons are reported to have been injured in the incident.
The district administration has set up a temporary police post in the village to avoid any further trouble.
It is said that Sattar's house was attacked because Biswas wanted to occupy it for personal benefit. (ANI)
