New Delhi, Sep 5 (ANI): Commenting on the arrest of former Karnataka Tourism Minister, Janardhan Reddy, Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Rajiv Shukla on Monday said the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is probing into the mining scam and the government does not interfere in its working.
"As far as this case of Bellary's Reddy's is concerned, law is taking its own course; you all know that the government does not interfere in the functioning of the CBI. CBI is investigating the matter; they must be proceeding according to their investigation. So, I think we should have faith in them," he told reporters.
However, lawmaker Jaganmohan Reddy said he would not be supporting BJP at any given point.
"Time and again we have made ourselves very clear that, however, we will not be in any way supporting BJP. We have made this, not once, but ample number of times we have made this very clear. Time and again we have been speaking about this, saying that I am thankful to them for what they are doing, speaking for the injustice being done, but we will definitely not be supporting BJP at any given junction. This is very very categorically, very very clearly told," said Reddy.
Earlier in the day, the CBI arrested Janardhan Reddy and Managing Director of Obalapuram Mining Company B V Srinivas Reddy after conducting raids at their premises.
Reddy was among those indicted by the Lokayukta report on illegal mining submitted to the Government on July 27.
Sleuths also raided the premises of Srinivasa Reddy in Bangalore.
According to sources, the CBI team led by its DIG, P V Lakshminarayana has taken Janardhana Reddy and Srinivasa Reddy to Hyderabad for further questioning.
The probe agency action comes a day after Reddy's associate and former Karnataka minister B Sreeramulu resigned from his Assembly seat, protesting against the BJP's denial to give him ministerial berth and also keeping Bellary Reddy brothers out of the ministry. (ANI)
