Washington, Sep 2(ANI): Most American voters think that former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin should stay on the sidelines for the 2012 US presidential race while only 20 percent say she should run for US President.
According to a Fox News poll, though white evangelical Christians and Tea Party members were most likely to support Palin's bid for the 2012 presidential race, the majority in these groups also said Palin should not run for US President
The poll revealed 72 percent of conservatives, 71 percent of Republicans and 66 percent of independents think Palin should stay out of the race.
About 77 percent women as compared to 71 percent men echoed the same sentiment.
The poll has shown that Texas Governor Rick Perry commanded 26 percent support of GOP primary voters, former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney secured 18 percent.
Palin received eight percent support and Texas Representative Ron Paul was backed seven percent voters
Both Minnesota Representative Michele Bachmann and former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani garnered four percent support.
The Fox News poll, based on landline and cell phone interviews with 911 randomly chosen registered voters, was conducted under the joint direction of Anderson Robbins Research (D) and Shaw and Company Research (r) between August 29 and August 31. (ANI)
