Budgam (J-K), Sep 1 (ANI): Residents in Jammu and Kashmir's Budgam District have welcomed the ongoing infrastructure development of the area by the state authorities under schemes like NREGA.
This district is competing with Srinagar in terms of infrastructure. Several projects are underway such as construction of roads, bridges and tubewells. All the far off villages and places that used to be cut off from city life are also seeing a change in terms of road construction.
Officials in the state stated that in order to encourage development of the region, the state authorities have allocated adequate resources.
"Budgam in 2010-11 had a record fund availability of 107 crores. It is a record, the highest ever so far under the district plan. I mean, additionalities included. Our plan for the current fiscal is of the order of 90 crores. But, I'm sure when we get additionalities, reappropriations, by the end of the fiscal, it may go even beyond 150 crores," said Rafi Ahmad, district Development Commissioner.
Several areas in the state were not sufficiently developed in the last few years but since the state administration has begun to pay attention to the dire requirements of these remote areas, slowly but surely, a change seems underway. (ANI)
