Guwahati, Aug.23 (ANI): Assam Police have confirmed seizing a huge cache of drugs, worth millions earlier this month from two men waiting for a train in Guwahati.
Sub-inspector Bhaskar Hazarika said: "They were waiting at the platform due to delay in the train's arrival. They were caught in the morning by a platform checking party. I won't be able to disclose the exact figure, but more than 100,000 tablets of Spasmo proxyvon were seized from them.
In a separate incident in Tripura, border security forces seized 1300 bottles of Phenysedyl, a cough syrup, 50 metres away from the India-Bangladesh border in Baumutia village.
The bottles were hidden under a bamboo grove. The drug is used as a substitute for liquor.
The consignment was meant for Bangladesh where the price of one bottle of Phenysedyl is Rs.350. Dhaka has urged India to crack down on factories that manufacture the drug near the border. (ANI)
