Panchkula (Haryana), Sep 27 (IANS) A college student died after a group of boys armed with sharp-edged weapons allegedly attacked him outside his college here Saturday, the police said.
Kushal Sharma of village Raipur Rani, around five kilometres from here, was a student of BA final year in Sector 1 government college.
'He was waiting for a bus in front of the college when 15-20 boys armed with batons, hockey sticks and sharp-edged weapons attacked him and fled,' a police officer investigating the case told IANS.
Kushal was seriously wounded and taken to a government hospital in Sector 6 where he succumbed to his injuries, the officer said.
Two of his friends who tried to save him also were injured in the clash. The condition of one of them is serious, said the police officer.
They have also been admitted to the hospital.
'The police have recorded the accounts of eyewitnesses and the injured boys. We have formed special team to round up the accused boys at the earliest,' Sandeep Khirwar, superintendent of police of Panchkula, told media persons.
'It is the result of an old animosity between the boys. The boys who attacked Kushal belong to the neighbouring village. They also indulged in a scuffle with him and his brother 3-4 months back,' Mahipal Sharma, Kushal's uncle, told IANS.
