New Delhi, Aug 21 (ANI): Referring to Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh's readiness to discuss the Lokpal Bill issue, RTI crusader Arvind Kejriwal, a key figure in Anna Hazare's crusade against corruption, today demanded time and venue from the government to discuss the concerned matter.
"On the other side, yesterday the Prime Minister said that the government was ready for talks. Then very humbly, we want to ask the Prime Minister that he should tell us where to come, to whom to talk to and at what time?" said Kejriwal.
Kejriwal also invited noted social activist and National Advisory Council (NAC) member Aruna Roy to come to the Ramlila Ground to discuss the differences on their version of the Lokpal Bill.
"We want to hold peaceful talks about the Lokpal Bill in presence of media and people for which we invite the government, NGOs. And yesterday, we came to know that NCPRI (National Campaign for Peoples' Right to Information) has come up with another Bill," said Kejriwal.
"We invite all these people to come here (Ramlila Ground) and hold discussions with us in presence of the citizens of this country," he added.
The National Campaign for Peoples' Right to Information led by Roy had shown discontent with the version of the Lokpal Bill drafted by the civil society activists, and termed it to impractical and undemocratic.
Kejriwal further asked people across India to stage sit-in protests outside the houses of lawmakers of their respective region demanding an open explanation of their view and support on the Lokpal Bill.
"I humbly request the citizens of this country to catch their lawmakers. We had elected them by casting our vote in their favour. We had thought that since we had elected them they would take our demands to the Parliament," said Kejriwal.
"I urge people to stage sit -in protest outside the lawmakers residence in their locality and ask them to publicly express their view whether they are with the government's ombudsman or with us," he added.
Kejriwal also urged people to participate in a mass rally from India Gate to the Ramlila Ground. (ANI)
