New Delhi, Aug 16 (ANI): The supporters of veteran social activist Anna Hazare, who was arrested ahead of his scheduled indefinite fast, heckled Union Human Resource and Development (HRD) Minister Kapil Sibal during a seminar on Lokpal here on Tuesday.
They raised slogans and waved black flags, when he stood up to address the seminar.
Police immediately intervened and took the protesters out of the hall.
Hazare was sent to seven-day judicial custody in Tihar Jail earlier in the day.
A Special Magistrate Court sent the social activist to Tihar Jail after he refused to sign a personal bond.
Hazare was asked to sign an undertaking promising that he would not violate Section 144.
The Anna Hazare team earlier in the day said they will approach the Supreme Court against the detention ahead of the proposed indefinite fast, claiming that the police action was 'totally undemocratic'.
The support has started pouring in for Hazare and his team with people from different walks of life demanding his immediate release and voicing support to the Gandhian's demand for a strong Lokpal.
Besides his home state Maharashtra, widespread protests and sit-in demonstrations were held in various places in the east, north and south.
Hazare's village Ralegan Siddhi in Maharashtra's Ahmednagar District in witnessed protests with people coming out on the roads along with their cattle and blocking the traffic. (ANI)
