London, Aug.16 (ANI): Anders Lindegaard says he wants to be Manchester United's No1 keeper.
Danish star Lindegaard believes he has a good chance of replacing new 18-million pound signing David De Gea, 20, who is already under pressure after high-profile blunders in both the Community Shield and Sunday's 2-1 win at West Brom.
The Sun quoted Lindegaard, as saying: "I'm not scared about being No 1 at Man United. That is why I came here - to play and be the best. It doesn't matter who cost what, the manager will make his decision. I have no fear and I have belief in my own ability to perform at this level, otherwise I wouldn't be here. I want more than making it a difficult decision for the boss. I want to play regularly."
Lindegaard, 27, joined United in January in a 3.5 million pound move from Norwegian side Aalesund.
He made two first-team appearances in FA Cup victories over Southampton and Crawley before undergoing knee surgery in March.
With Edwin van der Sar retiring at the end of last season, Lindegaard rose to the challenge of De Gea's arrival with some impressive pre-season displays in America.
Now, he believes he is a viable proposition to be Ferguson's first choice. (ANI)
