Hambantota (Sri Lanka), Aug.16 (ANI): Sri Lanka's woes in the one-day series against Australia have deepened with vice-captain Angelo Mathews set to miss Tuesday's third match in Hambantota.
Mathews is reportedly in doubt for the match after the quadriceps injury he sustained ahead of this year's World Cup final flared up again.
The Island newspaper has reported the injury, citing a "selection committee source" as saying Mathews was highly unlikely to play in the match that Sri Lanka must win to keep the series alive.
The hosts are trailing 2-0 in the five-match series after Sunday's crushing eight-wicket loss to Australia.
Dinesh Chandimal, who has struggled with the bat so far against Australia has been dropped for Chamara Silva but could earn a reprieve and take Mathews' place if the all-rounder is ruled out. (ANI)
