Indian 'Off-coloured' off spinner Harbhajan Singh has been ruled out for the third Test match against England after sustaining an abdominal injury during the second Test at Nottingham. Indian Test Opener Gautam Gambhir has been declared fit while Virender Sehwag is set to join the team in this week.
Indian 'turbanator' who is currently struggling with his form had got a stomach injury in the second test at Nottingham. He has a grade one lower abdominal tear that can keep away him 10-12 days from the game. Harbhajan has taken only two wickets in this series. His absence can give the opportunity to legspinner Amit Mishra in Birmingham.
But, if injured Zaheer Khan becomes fit from the hamstring injury, he can be included in the squad making a four-pace attack, which chances are likely extremely dim as India is continuously facing the slow over rate problem.
Indian Opener Gautam Gambhir has been declared fit and he can play in the third test as an opener in Birmingham, but Yuvraj Singh who played the Second Test in Trent Bridge got injury in his left elbow. A short ball of Tim Bresnan had hit his left elbow in the final inning. He was advised to consult a specialist in London. His presence in the third test is also murky.
The fate of Virender Sehwag will be decided after showing fitness and strong performance in a two-day tour match scheduled to Northampton on August 5-6. As it is known the opening pair of Gambhir and Sehwag is one of the best opening pair in the world cricket.
