London, July 26 (ANI): The father of the Norwegian man behind the Oslo massacre, has said that his 'son should have turned the gun on himself'.
Anders Behring Breivik's father, Jens Breivik, a retired diplomat who served at the country's London embassy, said that he would have to live with the shame of his son's actions for the rest of his life, adding, 'no one normal could do that.'
He admitted that he was filled with "despair" at what his son had done.
"I think that ultimately he should have taken his own life rather than kill so many people," the Telegraph quoted Jens, as saying.
"But when I think of what happened, I'm filled with despair. I still don't understand how something like this could happen. No one normal could do that," he added.
Jens, 76, said that he had not seen his son for 15 years, and added that he 'would never have any contact with him in future.'
"I don't feel like his father. How could he just stand there and kill so many innocent people and just seem to think that what he did was OK? He should have taken his own life, too. That's what he should have done," Jens said.
In 1,500 page manifesto Anders Breivik has spoken about staying with his father and his new wife, Tore, in Paris.
But he said that he had lost contact when he was 15, claiming that his father had "isolated himself" from the family and had disapproved of his son's obsession with graffiti. (ANI)
