Jose Manuel Lara guided the Women's Golf Association of India team to victory in the EMAAR-MGF Indian Masters Pro-Am at the Delhi Golf Club here on Wednesday.
The WGAI team which comprised three amateurs Satish Tandon, V.S. Singh and Devin Narang combined well with Jose Manuel Lara carding a net 57 to seal the honours, one shot ahead of the Professional Golf Tour of India team that comprised of Raphael Jacquelin, Gautam Thapar (President, PGTI), Sanjay Labroo and Rana Talwar.
The Delhi Golf Club team (Richard Finch, Gagan Verma, Karan Vasudeva and Pawan Kumar) finished third on a net 59, beating the second WGAI team (Gonzalo Fdez-Catano, Vidhur Chopra, Anupama Singh and Madhushree Birla) on a countback.
World number four Ernie Els led his EMAAR-MGF team which included Pawan Munjal, R.K. Bhattacharya and J. Daulatsingh to a sixth place finish on a net 60 while Jeev Milkha Singh, featuring for another EMAAR-MGF team, settled for the seventh place, also on a net 60. The amateurs in the team included G.N. Bajbai, Raj Khosla and V.K. Duggal.
The event, which attracted 23 teams, provided some of the leading professionals a final chance to fine tune their game ahead of the main event, in addition, also provided a great opportunity for amateurs to rub their shoulders with some of the finest players in the world.
