Raipur, July 18 (ANI): Anil M Navaney, who recently took charge as the new Director General of Police (DGP) of Chhattisgarh, has said that his first priority would be to plan strategies suited for the Maoist affected region.
"The legal duty of police is to stop the crime and to investigate the crime that occurs. It also has to provide a sense of safety and security to the public. This is the legal duty of police and this would be included amongst my priorities," said Navaney.The resource of the police department is improving. It has increased in terms of number. Infrastructure has improved. Also, it (resource) has increased in both the ways, qualitatively and quantitatively. Standard training is being provided (to the officers). And the new training institutes are growing," he added.
The 1978 batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer further said that he believed in teamwork and would like to improve the existing relations between the police and the public.
Chhattisgarh Government replaced the former DGP, Vishwa Ranjan, on July 12 by Anil M. Navaney. (ANI)
